MISSION

Provide transitional mental health, behavioral and life skills services which enhance the ability of people with mental illness, addictive disease and co-occurring disorders to live and thrive in their community, and do so with compassion, respect, excellence and integrity.

Women Veterans in Crisis is the program name for Project STRAIT, IRS - 46-4977557.

ABSTRACT

FACT: Women and their children are the fastest growing population of homeless veterans.

Also unbelievably, 420 or 70% of the 600 veteran lives lost every month to suicide are NOT receiving government or VA services.

With solid barriers to receiving VA care well known, many woman veterans find themselves on their own with essentially no options for help. Sadly, these women are left to self-treat their mental health symptoms from post-traumatic stress, military sexual trauma and other service-linked mental health disorders. When combined with the out-of-control epidemics of opioid, substance and alcohol abuse we find predictably heartbreaking suicide and morbidity statistics. This reflects a clear break in our nation's commitment to provide for our injured veterans - a true national disgrace - and represents a solid failure of public policy and safety initiatives.

Our Whispering Oaks Ranch pilot program is set among 350 wooded acres in the therapeutic horse country of Ocala, Florida. We provide genuine community-based resources which are designed as a safety net offering crisis intervention, comprehensive mental health and the special needs required for our women vets and their children. Our programs are designed to break the "surviving on the street" lifestyle of homelessness and ensure the utmost likelihood of achieving stable, independent living. We have 3 to 9 month inpatient programs with a capacity of 250 women and 35 children.

CULTURE

Our cultural cornerstones represent who we are as individuals, how we treat our sponsors, ranch participants and their children, our volunteers, our stakeholders and one another. These are:

Take ownership and pride in everything we do;

Recognize that good people make the difference and are the key to our success;

Work together as one team;

Provide meaningful rewards for clients, associates and stakeholders;

Respect others through honesty, understanding and trust;

Put our program participants and their children first and the ‘bottom line’ will take care of itself; and

Have fun and celebrate life every day.

VALUES

Our organizational values include fourteen principles which should always characterize our leaders and associates - shared beliefs which are desired and encouraged. These values include integrity, trust, accountability, stewardship, openness, humility, an open door philosophy, and life balance.

Additionally, central to our clinical service delivery are these core principles:

Safety, urgency of action, trauma informed care, common sense, evidence-based treatment, transparency and accountability, responsiveness to the community, efficiency, ethics, a family-centered focus, and being culturally competent and respectful.

BUSINESS ENVIRONMENT

Women Veterans In Crisis employs comprehensive best-practice financial modeling, automated operations reporting, near-real-time metrics systems and a flexible infrastructure to provide constant monitoring of program participant census, donations, gifts, revenues, costs and other clinical and business factors. Our organization provides services which maximize technology and business investment from the ground up to take advantage of advanced equipment and automation technology to save costs and maximize ROI (return on investment).

 For many organizations, and non-profits in particular, one major obstacle to driving growth is segregated capital and technology infrastructures. At Women Veterans In Crisis we utilize capital, technology, knowledge base and human resources interchangeably to encourage a smooth ebb of resource allocation which maximizes leverage of assets and provides for a fluid business environment - one that costs far less than historical endeavors. In addition, we incorporate lean enterprise solutions and cost elimination strategies from the very beginning which greatly eliminates the need for redundancy and saves vast amounts of capital and people resources. The results are quality services and good client outcomes, deployed and provided as needed, on time and for the very best possible cost.

The entire organization is built upon our relationship with our plan participants and their families, donors and stakeholders. Our management, our exceptional knowledge base, our infrastructure, services and operational schedules are tailored precisely to participant needs and services. Ultimately, good participant outcomes and their satisfaction with the entire service process is our unqualified goal.
